UPPER WEST REGIONAL MINISTER URGES MEDIA PRACTITIONERS TO UPHOLD HIGH ETHICAL STANDARDS
Alhaji Sulemana Alhassan, has appealed to media practitioners to uphold professionalism, integrity and decency in the discharge of their duties.
He called on them to operate within their mandate as professionals and also be circumspect in their reportage to ensure that their panellists discuss issues dispassionately on facts and content rather than being prejudiced and insulting on their airwaves.
Alhaji Sulemana said this when he interracted with media practitioners in the Region at a press soiree organized by the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council (UWRCC) at Wa on Friday 5th January, 2018.
The Hon. Regional Minister appealed to the media to project the good image of the region. This would market the region to attract the necessary investors for the development of the region.
He again reiterated the need for media houses to chun out educative, informative and reliable information and stop potraying bad imge of the Region.
Alhaji Sulemana revelealed that government this year will rollout more of its flagship programmes and thus he urged the media to sensitize the public on these programmes and activities of the office of the RCC and other departments of the RCC as and when they are rolled out.
Mr. Suala Abdul -Wahab, Upper West Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA), in his remarks thanked the RCC for the support and cooperation the Association has enjoyed so far and pledged the commitment of the Association to maintain high ethical standards and also promote the region to bring about the needed development.
